Responsibilities  

Reporting to the Head of Domestic HR this newly created part time position will lead Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives for MSF Australia and MSF New Zealand, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and global DEI commitments.  The position is 2.5 days per week, ideally distributed across five days, though we are open to flexible arrangements for the right candidate. 

With a focus on fostering an inclusive, equitable and respectful workplace this collaborative role will help to drive meaningful change, develop policy, support learning and play a central role in embedding culturally safe practices.  Accountabilities will include: 

  • Chair and coordinate MSFA’s DEIB Committee 
  • Design and implement the DEIB Action Plan and associated initiatives 
  • Integrate DEIB principles across HR and L&D functions, including training content and policy development 
  • Coordinate DEIB-related events, engagement activities, and awareness campaigns 
  • Produce internal DEIB communications 
  • Support Employee Relations with inclusion-focused advice on sensitive workplace matters 
  • Monitor external trends, legal requirements, and MSF global DEI developments 
  • Drive and track progress on the MSFA’s Reconciliation Plan 
  • Report on DEIB compliance metrics  
  • Build positive working relationships with staff, managers, and international DEIB focal points 

 

Requirements  

To be successful in this highly visible and impactful position, you will be known for your consultative approach and ability to influence.  Lived experience in any aspect of DEIB is welcomed and valued. Ideally you will be motivated by working in humanitarian aid, and can demonstrate the following:  

  •  Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in HR, organisational development, social sciences, or a related field 
  • Strong understanding of DEIB concepts, practices, and relevant Australian legislation 
  • Experience delivering workplace culture or inclusion strategies 
  • Understanding of HR/ER frameworks and ability to approach sensitive issues with care 
  • Project coordination skills and committee or stakeholder group management experience 
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and engagement skills 
  • Experience producing internal communications such as newsletters or reports 
  • Familiarity with DEIB frameworks such as RAPs, DAPs and anonymous feedback systems 
  • Experience in cross-cultural or values-driven environments is highly desirable.
