Responsibilities
Reporting to the Finance and Accounting Manager this key role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions within the MSF Australia and MSF New Zealand finance system. With a focus on performing month end balance sheet reconciliations and journals to support timely and accurate financial reporting, preparation of Business Activity Statements and reporting to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Accountabilities will include efficient month-end accounting tasks; assisting with international reconciliations and reporting; year-end audit input; maintaining access and knowledge of Systems, Platforms and Gateways; compliance with financial guidelines and contribute to the continual improvement of finance procedures and policies.
Working collaboratively within the finance team you will support the Accounts Payable and Finance Officers to process invoices, payments and expenses and offer payroll backup, and more broadly across the organisation you will liaise with other departments to streamline and maintain efficient financial processes.
Requirements
To be successful in this accounting role, you will be known for delivering accurate financial reporting and staying updated with regulation changes. You will enjoy adapting to new systems and automation tools and will be motivated by working in a humanitarian aid organisation. Ideally you can demonstrate the following:
- Qualifications in accounting, finance, business administration or related.
- Minimum of 3+ years’ financial accounting including financial reporting and compliance.
- Proven understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and financial regulations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, financial reporting tools and enterprise resource planning systems (Adaptive, NetSuite, SAP, Preceda and ELMO experience will be well regarded)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
