Responsibilities  

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager this 2-year part time contract will support the finance team 3 days per week to manage international accounting responsibilities, as well as both maintaining and optimising the MSF Australia and MSF New Zealand finance systems and payment gateways.  

Work collaboratively with finance counterparts and stakeholders both domestic and internationally to deliver compliant and accurate financial information and offer backup support to the finance team. Accountabilities include: 

International 

  • review of international reconciliations for month-end accounting tasks 
  • supporting APAC finances (Japan, Korea, Hong Kong & Australia) with the preparation of quarterly financial reconciliations, plus assisting with budgeting and forecasting 
  • assist with audits,  
  • prepare tasks for year-end reporting, including preparation of year end international accounts 
  • compliance with financial guidelines, and contributing to the continual improvement of finance procedures and policies. 

Systems 

  • contribute to the continual improvement of financial processes and act as Project Manager on systems automation projects  
  • act as the payment gateway lead – managing systems administration, queries, security and integration with other systems 
  • maintaining access and knowledge of Systems, Platforms and Gateways;  

 

Requirements  

To be successful in this key finance role, you will be known for delivering meticulous and accurate financial information on time!  You will enjoy navigating complex and evolving international regulations and will be motivated by working in a humanitarian aid organisation. Ideally you can demonstrate the following:   

  • Qualifications in accounting, finance, business administration or related. 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in finance or accounting management roles 
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting and compliance is essential 
  • Technical skills in MS Excel, financial reporting tools and ERP systems (experience with Adaptive, Salesforce, NetSuite, SAP and ELMO will be well regarded) and payment gateways such as Stripe 
  • Proven understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and financial and tax regulations and compliance. 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
