Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Business Operations this newly designed role will represent the essential in house legal function for MSF Australia and MSF New Zealand, primarily focusing on contract management and legal review.
Leading a Privacy Officer and collaborating closely with the internal Procurement Manager and Governance Lead, responsibilities will include the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contractual agreements to mitigate organisational risk.
As the central provider of legal advice to the organisation you will source external guidance from specialist legal suppliers and pro-bono partners on complex matters to ensure applicable laws and regulatory requirements are met.
The Contracts and Legal Manager will be responsible for providing assurance to the Governance Lead/Co-Sec that legal and regulatory requirements have been appropriately considered when consulted on key policies and matters.
The role will be required to work closely with the Data team to ensure that all data and privacy considerations are incorporated appropriately within supplier contractual arrangements.
In alignment with several stakeholders, you will product manage a new Contract Management Platform (HighQ) as it goes live, continuing to optimise the system as it is used by the business. Support the refinement of associated Procurement and Contracts policies, procedures and templates.
Requirements
To be successful in this advisory role, you will be across a wide range of regulatory areas and be known for managing risk appropriately with a business mindset. You will be skilled at partnering with teams to enable the organisation to achieve its objectives, being solution focused when faced with complex contractual issues and will be motivated by working in a humanitarian aid organisation. Ideally you can demonstrate the following:
- Current practicing certificate as a lawyer in an Australian jurisdiction.
- Minimum 5 years experience in contact management, legal administration, or similar inhouse legal support role.
- Knowledge of legal principles relating to contracts and compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.
