Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare. MSF’s actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality.
MSF Asia Pacific (APAC) is a formal Partnership (between institutional MSF regions Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea) working towards the development of MSF’s goals for the benefit of MSF operations and patients world-wide.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the APAC Regional Head of Communications this key role will plan and manage public communications and engagement activities in the Philippines to raise the visibility, awareness and acceptance of Doctors Without Borders by promoting the profile and identity of the organisation across the Asia Pacific region.
Accountabilities will include content development, crisis communications, media relations and online media management. You will utilise media, online media (website and social media channels) and public events to promote the profile and identity of MSF for targeted groups among the general public to amplify both the humanitarian activities of MSF worldwide as well as the communications, fundraising and recruitment efforts of MSF APAC in the Philippines.

Requirements
To be successful in this role you will have an interest in and knowledge of world affairs, will be comfortable taking initiative and enjoy working remotely within a virtual team across the APAC region. You will have a commitment to the medical humanitarian aims and values of MSF, and ideally can demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years' journalistic or public relations experience.
- Experience producing engaging content with skills in online writing, editing and proofreading along with an exceptional eye for detail.
- Good knowledge of local media in Philippines and established media networks.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and Filipino is required
- Good presentation and solid experience in translation and copy writing
- Ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines
- Flexible and willing to travel
- Willingness to learn new skills and contribute in a team environment
- Experience working with NGO/INGOs will be well regarded
